Remmler Array

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Star Trek science fiction saga, the Remmler Array is a drydock facility that is used to remove accumlated baryon particles from starships. One such array is located at the Akaria Base - it has not been revealed how many of these arrays exist in the Federation.

The array consists of two large platforms. A starship is placed between these two platforms. The two platforms then generate a plasma energy field, which is moved from one end of the ship to the other. Diverters are placed around key systems - these devices generate a force field that keeps the energy field from coming into contact with vital systems. The energy field is lethal to most known life forms, and a ship must be totally evacuated during the sweep. The ship also needs to be shut down so that the power generation doesn't interfere with energy field.

In 2369, the USS Enterprise-D docked at the array and had undergone the sweep. Thieves attempted to steal trilithum resin from the ship while it was undergoing the sweep. For more details see the Akaria Base article and the Starship Mine episode.
