From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Remigius de Fécamp, bishop of Dorchester 1070-1072, who then became the first bishop of Lincoln when in 1072 he and the king moved the seat of that bishopric to Lincoln, reconstituting it as the diocese of Lincoln.
In 1072, Remigius also signed the Accord of Winchester and initiated the construction of Lincoln Cathedral, which was consecrated twenty years later by Thomas, archbishop of York on 9th May, 2 days after Remigius' death. In c.1086 he was given the manor of 'Eslaford' (probably Sleaford) by the king.
