Remberto Giménez

Remberto Giménez (born 1898 – 1977) was a Paraguayan composer and musician.
In 1912, Nicolino Pellegrini founded the Police marching band and was the teacher of several future Paraguayan music personalities such as Remberto Gimenez. Remberto was also a student of Salvador Déntice. He was a tireless organizer of musical activities such as festivals and participated in every possible cultural events in Paraguay.
Due to his contributions to Paraguayan culture he was awarded with the National Order of Merit in 1949, the "Cross of the Defenders" (awarded for his participation in the Chaco War and the Medal of Honour for Educational Merit.

The composition of his works belong to the line of musical nationalism of romantic and comtemplative cut. He was an excellent orchestrator and in some of his works such as Rapsodia Paraguaya his armonic and modern treatments where easily recognizable and established him ahead of other contemporary Paraguayan composers at the time.
His most important works include: Campanento Cerro León, La Golondrina, Nostalgias del terruño, Ka´aguy Ryakua (Fragancia del bosque) and Kuarahy oike jave (Cuando entra el Sol). His most popular songs are Himno a la juventud, Canción de paz, Al pie de tu reja y Conscripto.
