My name is Alan Collins (you’d never have guessed that, right?) and I am a 17 year-old member of the UK Conservative Party.

I joined the party just after the 2005 General Election, believing that the displacement of Michael Howard from the throne of Party Leader could move the party in a new, invigorating and much more appealing direction.

In the ensuing leadership election, my vote went to David Cameron, who I believe will lead the party to the greatest electoral successes since 1997, even if we do not win.

My Political Ideology is traditional Conservatism, that is to say I am fairly right-wing in my beliefs, as you can probably tell as you read through my blog posts. I joined the party in full knowledge that both my parents are ex-members (and current voters, they only left because of financial obligations) and have both stood for Council within the past 20-30 years.

I am a full-time student at Rainham Mark Grammar School’s Sixth Form, studying Computing, Physics, Government & Politics and Spanish.

In my spare time, I am a Cadet Flight Sergeant at my local Air Training Corps squadron, and I am now becoming more actively involved in local Party Politics.
