The Regan name is from the original Irish O'Raigain, later abbreviated to O'Regan, and later shortened to Regan and Reagan. The Regans are decendants of an Irish King from the Middle Ages named Brian Boru. The Regan and Reagan names are common in Ireland and the United States.
