Regulation drill
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regulation drill, also known as "standard drill", is one of the phases that drill teams perform during a drill meet. The other phases include the inspection phase, and exhibition drill phase. In regulation drill, a designated person, usually the commander, calls a sequence of drill commands that his or her team will perform.
Teams are usually evaluted on the basis of:
Bearing - Each member maintains outstanding military bearing. This includes not expressing emotion such as glee (smiling) or frustration (frowning).
Cadence - Teams march in step, and making sure their steps are taken in the same manner and at the same time as the rest of the team members.
Command voice (commander) - Team commander calls commands with confidence and snap.
Drill sequence - Teams perform all the commands required in order.
Boundary - Teams do not cross the boundary line.
