Regions of Thailand
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thailand's four regions are the largest subdivisions of the country. In contrast to the provinces the regions have no administrative character, but are subdivisions of Thailand used for statistical or other geographical purposes only. The four most common regions are:
- Northern Thailand
- Northeast Thailand, also commonly named Isan
- Central Thailand
- Southern Thailand
While these four are always defined with the same territorial extend, the less common further subdivision of the central region into three or four regions differs in its extends.
