The Reggiane Re.2007 was a single-seat jet interceptor of Italian local design based in native Jet airplane testing experiences amongst German turbo Jet technology. if related why only some cell and pieces for prototype was partially finished but any knowed example was completed before at 1944.
In order to manufactured a advanced figther,to content Allied bomber waves against Italian cities, in October 1943 Ing.Roberto Longhi designed these aircraft with ideas based in Caproni Campini N.1 and Reggiane Re.2006 projects amongst proposed on the known dimension of the Jumo 004B,it's proposed power plant.Reggiane company working in relate project along of Caproni design team also.

[edit] Fuselage and Pilot Cockpit
The fuselage if derived from Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario piston engined figther more modified without frontal piston engine,reduced the nose length and installing one great frontal main air intake and back enlarged fuselage for created the main jet engine exhaust amongst modified inner pilot cabin /jet engine distribution at similar to Re.2006/N.1 joining at replace the Re.2005 eliptical wings for enlarged swept delta wings (for reduced wind resistance and gaining higth velocity) and enlarged and modified tail surfaces.
Pilot cockpit was planeed as similar to Reggiane Re.2005 conventional coverback cockpit, later was proposes bubble cockpit with total vision (360°) for production operative model,this last idea was accepted;for airfield landing used the undercarriage trycicle landing gear.

the armament was composed by four (4) Breda 20mm or Mauser MG 151/20 20mm cannons in nose how,surrounded the main air intake in the nose.respect at engine was studied the use of native thermojet engine desing based in Caproni Campini N.1 experience(piston engine driving a compressor to accelerate the air mass that was mixed with fuel and burned,similar formula applied by Japanese to Yokosuka Ohka model 22 with Hitachi 4 Cylinder/ Tsu-11 Jet engine of 200 Kg of thrust),others was the BMW 003E (800 Kg of thrust) and Junkers Jumo 004B (900 Kg of thrust),at final if considered the Jumo 004B axial flow turbine engine for your stablity and best performances.
The Luftwaffe's representant in the Reggiane factory, Hauptmann Bohm can't to obtain from superiors definitive permision respect the supply of the two Junkers Jumo 004B's which had been promised by the Germans;for this Ing. Longi was comunicated with Count Caproni for aiding in obtain such engines for two prototypes.

meantime arriving mentioned engines,if manufactured some aircraft parts how the rear fuselage,wing spars,ribs,landing gears and the pilot cabin,but for inability to obtain adequately information related to the Jumo 004B engine tall work once again stalled, if difficult to know if such parts served adequate to the tall of related engine.
if ordered to construct one real scale mock-up and two prototypes (one without arms and other armed with 20mm cannons);of these plans if related why if constructed only the mock-up only.if planeed why the operative version was are "Reggiane Re.2007A" (jet figther/interceptor)
The performance was estimated at maximum speed (1,050 km/h),ceiling (15,000 m) with possibly range (1,500 km),the works in project no advance much during January 1944.later In October of same year the completed components of Re.2006 and Re.2007 were moved to the Caproni plant at Taliedo,near Milan; if beliving why such project was definitivelly stopped.

Some versions related where they would remain until the end of the war, when they were then shipped these incomplete prototypes to the U.S.A.or these jet was when the war ended but some parts for the fighter were fabricated;if later captured by the British forces in factory installations.
If related why the two Jumo 004B engines were sent to Italy for Germans, but were said such engines was sold for scrap in Milan immediately after the fall of the Axis forces in Italy.

Certain similar Jet interceptor design Reggiane Re.2008 was proposed after war, but for various reasons was never accepted by the A.M.I. in favorof local version of F-86 Sabre constructed under license by Fiat.
