[edit] 1933 King Kong

Is the 1933 version of King Kong still in the public domain? I've looked into the article and couldn't find anything about it. bibliomaniac15 04:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean by "still in the public domain"? If it was ever released into the public domain, then it would be there for good. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 16:04, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Careful there. Copyright law is not always simple, and that statement isn't necessarily true in all countries. For that matter, the answer to the original poster's question may vary by country also. --Anonymous, February 28, 2007, 04:58 (UTC).
Righto. King Kong being an American film, I assume U.S. laws would apply. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 09:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Which would mean it's not in the public domain to begin with. PD works in the US are usually from before 1924. - Mgm|(talk) 12:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WWF

Are the heights of wwf wrestlers real or are they just exxagerations? What is meant by billed height?

They will be real, why would they lie? Have to be real. Not sure what difference there is in billed height though. 193.35.248.11 16:01, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Sometimes the billed height (and weight) is different from actual. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 16:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Check out Andre the Giant for a good example of sketchy height billings. ----aguasde13013 kickin' it just for you 22:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
And just to clarify, billed height refers to the height they are promoted as having, which may or may not be their actual height. In much the same way, a billed name or billed hometown would be those that the wrestler is promoted with. "Glen Jacobs" from "Knoxville" sounds much less threatening than his billed name and billed hometown of "Kane" from "Parts Unknown". -ByeByeBaby

[edit] List of movies in Oscars 2007 foreign film montage?

A little surprised this hasn't been asked. But is there a complete list of all the movies shown in the foreign film tribute montage at this years Academy Awards? --24.249.108.133 15:46, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I would just try Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It lists some films that weren't included in the montage, but has all that were. I checked it out myself after seeing that. - Zepheus <ゼィフィアス> 20:20, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Wasn't there a TV series with interviews from famous former students of Actors Studio? (Movie stars etc.) I think that the interviews were given in front of curret students, so maybe they would have information of that sort. See Inside the Actors Studio. 惑乱 分からん 21:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
  • It's not a Hollywood actress quite yet, but The Acting Page by Leslie Wolos gives quite some solid tips. - Mgm|(talk) 12:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I would try their biographies as well.hotclaws**== 10:41, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Gay Boys Dragon Hour

My Monty Python Page-A-Day calendar says on today's page that Monty Pythons Flying Circus was called The Gay Boys Dragon Hour in Japan. I can understand the "Gay Boys" part due to the definition of "gay" as happy or whatever. But I don't understand the "Dragon" part. Why was this thrown in? Why was the name changed at all? Dismas|(talk) 22:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I'd assume it was a joke, and was never actually called that. IMDb has a list of titles it was known as in other countries ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063929/releaseinfo#akas ) but it doesn't list Japan.

I know nothing about Japanese titles of Monty Python or any other British show, but The Gay (yes, homosexual) Boys Dragon Hour seems like exactly the sort of title the Monty Python gang might have chosen. It's exactly as relevant to the show as Monty Python's Flying Circus, after all! --Anonymous Dog's Horseradish Assembly, February 28, 2007, revised 05:07 (UTC).

Also, Monty Python's Flying Circus had one homosexual cast member (Graham Chapman) and there were numerous sketches about transvestites and homosexuals, like "The Lumberjack Song" and the Australian men sitting around a table all asking each other if they were a "poofta". Besides. just about every episode had the male players dressed up as frumpy housewives. StuRat 15:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
The Japanese title of Monty Python's Flying Circus is Sora Tobu Monty Python (ja:空飛ぶモンティ・パイソン?). 'Sora' means 'sky' and 'Tobu' means 'fly' (verb) in Japanese so it literally means 'Sky-Flying Monty Python'. I have never heard of The Gay Boys Dragon Hour. --Kusunose 01:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
