Wikipedia:Redirects with possibilities

Redirects are very useful on Wikipedia. One can get spelling variants to one page, or use one page for several related subjects. However, the latter use also implies risks: That way a subject will link to somewhere that is not exactly the same, and one may be less intent to create a new page on it. For this kind of case, this page is intended. It lists redirect pages, that on itself are reasonable redirects, but that might be 'broken open' on some later date. You may want to add the redirect to.

If you want to write an article on a subject that is currently a redirect, click on the redirect, and you will find '(redirect from <title>)' on the page, with <title> a link. Clicking this link will give you the redirect page and enable you to edit it.

Please note that this is not a list of redirects that ought to be broken up, but only one of redirects that could be broken up. Many of these would better be left untouched, while others would indeed gain from being made into separate articles.

This page should be maintained by removing pages which are no longer redirects.

The names of very large numbers shift e.g. from quadrillion to quintillion etc, per 103, hence grouping the following per three offers within these pages links to the 'smaller' and to the 'larger' group of three, coinciding with name changes of numbers

  • 1 E+13 m³ and 1 E+14 m³ to 1 E+12 m³ (1 trillion m³, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 trillion)
  • 1 E+16 m³ and 1 E+17 m³ to 1 E+15 m³ (1 quadrillion m³, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 quadrillion)
  • 1 E+19 m³ and 1 E+20 m³ to 1 E+18 m³ (1 quintillion m³, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 quintillion)
  • 1 E+22 m³ and 1 E+23 m³ to 1 E+21 m³ (1 sextillion m³, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 sextillion)
  • 1 E+25 m³ and 1 E+26 m³ to 1 E+24 m³ (1 septillion m3, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 septillion)
  • 1 E+28 m³ and 1 E+29 m³ to 1 E+27 m³ (1 octillion m3, the redirects are 10 resp. 100 octillion)
  • 1 E+30 m³ groups all 10 increments, the next page being 1 E+40 m³, then 1 E+50 m³. All are more than 1,000 larger than our Sun thus rarely used and for most of these orders of magnitude there is not even an example available. In fact, it is only by mutual comparison (and with a example in a much lower or higher order), that one might start to grasp a particular order of magnitude. Nevertheless, their 9 redirects each do not (yet) exist, and should be created, as well as their 10 redirects from the alternative format without plus-sign: 1 E30 m³ etc.
