Britannica says born in 1908. Which is correct? Danny 03:37, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Resolved, 1908. Danny 03:56, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

How? (PLEASE don't just say "Resolved"; site your sources and reasoning.) I note that Allen's biographer Chilton has the 1906 date, with notes saying it is confirmed by Orleans Parish notary records. What is the reason and evidence to reject that and instead accept 1908? Wondering, -- Infrogmation 05:05, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
