Reddam House is a private, day, co-educational and non-denominational school. Campuses are located in Woollahra (Pre-School to Year 9) and Bondi (Years 10 to 12), New South Wales, Australia. The school was launched in Sydney by Mr. Graeme Crawford in June 2000. Publicised as a 'dynamic, contemporary and creative schooling environment', it was created by a major renovation at the previous Taylors College in North Bondi. Reddam's philosophy is to embrace the academic rigour of a traditional private education and infuse it with a modern child-focused pedagogy.

[edit] History

Reddam House started as a Years 7 to 11 school in 2001 at the current Bondi Campus. The school grew very quickly. A new campus at Woollahra, near the Bondi Junction train and bus terminals, was opened in 2003.

The new Woollahra Campus enabled the opening of the Reddam House Primary School (Years K to 6) and the restructuring of the High School into a Middle School (Woollahra) and a Senior School (Bondi).

A new Pre-School was added to the Woollahra Campus in 2007.

[edit] Facilities

Bondi Campus hosts Years 10, 11 and 12. Woollahra Campus hosts Pre-School to Year 9.

[edit] Achievements

The Reddam HSC class of 2006 made top 10 in "The Top 200 Schools in NSW" list in the December 20 edition of the Daily Telegraph.[1]. This is the foundation Year 7 class of Reddam House and the first group of students to have received the complete Years 7 to 12 Reddam Programme.

[edit] Financial Structure

Officially, Reddam House Ltd is listed as the non-profit company responsible for running Reddam House School. All one hundred of the shares in this company are held by Graeme Crawford, who is also one of its company directors, and the Director of the school itself. The school's Principal, George Balios is also listed as one of the company directors for Reddam House Ltd, with the Business Manager for Reddam House School, acting as the Company Secretary for Reddam House Ltd. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission lists the school's address as the principal place of business for Reddam House Ltd.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission also indicates that a second for-profit company, Reddam House Holdings, is using the same address as its principal place of business. The exact organisational relationship between between Reddam House Ltd and Reddam House Holdings is unknown. However a number of the office bearers for both companies are identical, and the key dates for company meetings and the lodgement of offical company documents are entirely identical.

Consequently, the Australian Education Union has raised some concerns that structure of these companies may have been established as a means for Reddam House School to obtain non-profit status, as opposed to reflecting the actual business operations involved. Only non-profit schools are eligible to recieve New South Wales and Commonwealth government funding, and membership of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW is also restricted to non-profit institutions.[2]
