Red Mountain Resort

Red Mountain Resort is a ski resort located in Rossland, which is a small former silver-mining town in the southern Monashee Mountains in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Rossland's reputation as a friendly ski town is compounded by quaint shops, apres-ski dining, and gourmet dining, as well as luxury housing. Red Mountain Resort is one of the oldest ski resorts in North America, with a storied history dating back to the first decade of the 1900s, with the creation of the Red Mountain Ski Club.
Red Mountain Resort is located in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, just north of the Canada/US border. The Red Express Bus Service also shuttles in passengers from Spokane International Airport, Kelowna International Airport, and the smaller airports in Trail, and Castlegar.
Red's base area is at 1185 meters (3888 feet), and offers an 887 meter (2909 ft) vertical. Red consists of two main peaks, Red Mountain, and Granite Mountain, and they are serviced by five lifts and a "magic carpet". The Silverlode chair services the lower area of Granite; Motherlode services the upper portion of Granite, and the Paradise Chair services the Paradise Basin on the back side of Granite. Last, but not least, the Red Chair services Red Mountain. The T-Bar services Red's Terrain Park. All together, the five chairlifts offer over 1585 acres of skiable area in 85 named runs. A new fixed grip quad is slated for construction in summer 2007. This will replace the Silverload lift on a new alignment. An ample yearly snowfall of over 300 inches replenishes Red's runs with the light fluffy and dry powder that the Kootenays and Monashees are world-famous for.
