Red Bastard is a leadering figure in the bouffon movement in the United States. Residing in New York, he performs and teaches locally and internationally.

Red Bastard's notoriety has rapidly increased, having been called "Very, Very Funny" by the New York Times, a "Cult Favorite" by TimeOut NY and "One of the hottest, funniest performance artists on the scene today" by Backstage Magazine.

His bulbous and sharp witted character is derived from the European tradition of bouffon, in which an outcast or deformed person mocks the society which has cast him out. Red Bastard shows are very interactive with the audience. (He often has dialogue with audience members and enters into the audience to physically interact with individuals.)

His body consists of a mammoth sized butt and belly, and chicken like legs. His body is covered completely in Red except for his face, hands and feet which are bare. Red Bastard's eyes and lips are a bright red.

The creator of Red Bastard is Eric Davis, a comic actor, clown and improviser from New York.

Mr. Davis is the Co-Director of the NY Clown Theatre Festival ( an annual Clown festival held in Brooklyn, NY). He studied Clown and Bouffon with Sue Morrison of Canada and is trained in the Richard Pochinko technique of Clowning (a cross of European and Native American Clowning). He has also studied clown with Philippe Gaulier

His Theater shows include: Red Bastard and Absence of Magic.
