I'm trying to think of how to word the following... At a point about 1995, before the web based forums really took off there was a discussion and poll on splitting "the-rec" into several newsgroups. This was spawned (largely) by the large number of posts per day (usually over 500, usually always about woodworking). This effort failed, but the Neanderthal's went and formed an e-mail list (to get away from the Normites) and the turners formed a wood turning group, following the (newer) naming structure (rec.crafts.*) Since I ran the poll, I was rather involved TTFN Ralph N7bsn 18:12, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah, 1995, the good old days, when I first started reading and posting on the wrec. :-) Also, IIRC, at the time, rec.crafts.carving were created. How about joining us at the Wikipedia:Wikiproject Woodworking? Luigizanasi 20:15, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
