Recrudescence, a melodic death metal band from St. Louis, Missouri, whose members include Chad Griffin, Sean Survant, Michael Francisco, and Nathaniel Larson. Recrudescence can also be described as plague metal, a combination of Norwegian black metal and Gothenburg death metal. Recrudescence also combines NWOBHM with their death/black metal genre, which gives them an old-school sound while maintaining a brutal, evil, and polished sound with disturbingly manic vocal lines and experimental-style drumming. 1. Recrudescence is an acute recurrence of the clinical attack after parasites in the blood dropped markedly and the disease subsided. The parasites. eg. Plasmodium, can persist in the blood without causing apparent symptoms for a few months.

2. The reappearance of an old wound, figuratively, or in a literal sense. The term is generally not referred to much anymore, but used to refer to - commonly, the reworking of a metal shrapnel or bullet when bullets or shrapnel were not able to be removed surgically.
