Recreational Religion

Recreational Religion is term used to describe any one of a number of activities where a person (non-religious or from another sect) indulges or immerses themselves in activities, literature, and media of a given religious sect which they perceive as strange, bizarre, or off-beat, for the sole purpose of having fun at the expense of that sect.
Originally, "Brother Randall", editor of Snake Oil Magazine (which made fun of televangelism). Invented the term "Recreational Christianity" to describe his activity of poking fun at televangelists, but "Psycho Dave" of Weirdcrap.com [1] modified it to be inclusive of other religions, as he was already engaging in activities with scientologists, UFO cults, and various other non-Christian sects.
The activity is basically a form of ridicule, and the practitioners can be sort of live versions of internet trolls. The activity is as simple as writing satire or ridiculing criticism, and can be as involved as actually posing as a member of a sect, and infiltrating the sect for the individual pleasure of fooling the sect. It can take on many forms, from heckling street proselytizers, making phoney calls to TV ministries/talk shows or re-editing religious material.
