Image:Record_makers_logo_125x90.jpg Record Makers is an independent French label founded in 2000 by AIR and their associates Marc Teissier du Cros and Stephane Elfassi, following the release of the soundtrack for Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides.

Record Makers is devoted to showing that the French can make beautiful music for the world. This label decided that the successes of acts like Air, Daft Punk or Carla Bruni were not isolated "export wonders" and that French has a strong potential, even if not exclusively dance or "Chanson".

"One day Sebastien Tellier's club anthem ( « La Ritournelle » ) will be huge." NME January 2005.

Focused on production, Record Makers also handles publishing and therefore has a strong network in cinema, advertising and fashion :
- Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides soundtrack by AIR
- Sebastien Tellier's motion picture score for french film Narco
- DSL's work for Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme 2003 couture show
- Record Makers' release of John Carpenter's 1976 unreleased soundtrack for Assault on Precinct 13.

Their main signing politic is to trust the most innovative people around us, those who have difficulties broadcasting their music in France for various reasons: too much talent, too many english lyrics, personalities too far out, ideas too progressive...

The label try to develop artist's works on a long period basis and therefore try to find the best network for each artist. In other words, Record Makers has no exclusive label deal and works with the most motivated structures. Though Record Makers don't have a specific music style attached to them, it mainly work with rock, electronic and pop orientated artists ... Their common link being a sort of hazy romanticism inherent to Record Makers' vision of modern music. They also work very carefully on visuals, videos, trying to connect the musicians with the most innovative graphic designers or video makers on the scene.
