Record Plant Studios

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Record Plant Studios (also known as just "The Record Plant") is a famous recording studio, first opening in New York City at 321 West 44th Street map, in 1968. The next year, they opened a studio in Los Angeles, which (after a move to Hollywood and the sale of the New York studio) became the main studio.

The first album recorded at the Record Plant was Electric Ladyland by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in 1968. Through the years, hundreds of albums were first cut there.

In 1987, the New York studio was sold to Sir George Martin and closed soon afterwards.
