- Yes, please use Category: Record labels by genre. If an appropriate genre category does not already exist, create it. Mirror Vax 16:41, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

- As it is now, there is no access to the record labels, could that be changed please? 84.59.109.136 20:55, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

- So, where would I put Apple Records?! (The label owned by The Beatles which released in just a few years rock, pop, easy listening, electronica, classical, Indian, soul and quite possibly some other genres I've forgotten). Nope, I'm not sure genre is best, but I am certainly of the opinion that this issue needs some debate and some joint effort to sort out the mess. I've done a little today (mostly moving indie labels to Category:Independent record labels and creating some subcategories for labels with multiple articles or at least one sub-category) but it's an uphill struggle. --kingboyk 21:24, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Where possible I have categorised the record labels. Either on status (independent, defunct, ...), or on country or genre. At this moment there are about 400 labels left categorised as "Category:Record labels". Maybe someone can check those labels and see if further work can be done on the categories? - Been working on the above, and now all those 400 should be in at least a sub-cat by country and hopefully one by genre too. Lugnuts 20:47, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
