Rebecca ("Bekky") Haynes is Lecturer in Romanian History at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL. She is an authority on inter-war Romanian history with special reference to the fascist "Iron Guard" movement. She has also written an extensive history of Moldova.

Her principal publications include:

Romanian Policy Towards Germany, 1936-40, Macmillan, 2000.

Moldova, Bessarabia, Transnistria (Occasional Papers in Romanian Studies, No. 3), London: SSEES-UCL, 2003.

A more patient and understanding UCL lecturer than most, Rebecca Haynes is a hit amongst students from both inside and outside the SSEES department who have taken her class "Europe Since 1870". While her fellow academics call her Bekky, amongst the students she is fondly known as "Haynesy".
