[edit] Reading Fans registered as a squad member

The idea came from the bulletin board of the web site Hob Nob Anyone?, when Silver Fox, one of the users, noticed the club had not assigned the number 13 to any player (probably due to triskaidekaphobia). He suggested that it should be reserved for the fans and the idea was forwarded to the club, who were happy to implement it. Deadlock 12:05, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RFD on the way?

Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Retired_numbers_in_football_%28soccer%29&curid=5419000&diff=103301711&oldid=103278578. When I get a chance, I will create a section on that page explaining this phenomenon, at which point I think this (and the Reading page) should go, or be merged into the relevant main club page. There is nothing specific about this, for any club that does it. Antgel 04:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

The club were the first to register their own fans as an official squad member. The squad number 13 has not been retired and therefore there is no reason to delete or merge the Reading Fans article. - JoeWiki 10:44, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
You're right about the second point, perhaps there should be a new article like "Fan squad numbers in football" or similar, then the numbers could be pulled out of the retired article, and this, and Stockport etc. Do you have a verifiable citation that the club was the first to register the fans? See WP:OR. Antgel 15:51, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
