Rear Admiral Walter S. Anderson

Former Director of the Office of Naval Intelligence. He had direct access to the White House and the ear of President Roosevelt. Was promoted to rear Admiral by Roosevelt and given command of all Pacific Fleet battleships with the title Commander Battleships prior to Pearl Harbor. Admiral Richardson has been quoted of saying that Anderson did not have the respect and confidence of other naval officers.[1]
