[edit] Making of the Album

Sara was inspired by her single "Suds in the Bucket" which became one of the biggest singles of her career. She decided to make this album more of a traditional country album. At this time many country superstars like Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Lee Ann Womack were once again leaning away from their country/pop soundtracks and into more traditional country thanks to the stellar success of Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert. Sara along with her brother, Matt, and famous producer Mark Bright, set off to create an album similar to her first album Three Chords and the Truth (1997). Though the album has a more retro country sound one of the songs was written by singer songwriter Sheryl Crow and featured the bass and drum players who played on John Mayer albums. Sara has been pleased with the result often saying this album makes her happier than anything she's done in a long time.

[edit] Reception

The first single "A Real Fine Place to Start" was a monster hit for Sara. It spent two weeks at number one on the country charts and was one of the biggest hits of the summer and of the year. This single along with the anticipation of the album prompted it to #1 on the country charts and #3 on the pop charts with a little under 130,000 albums sold in the first week, Sara's best debuting album of her career. It has recently been certified Platinum [1]. Real Fine Place is also Evans fourth consecutive album to contain a number one single, which is something singers such as Shania Twain and Lee Ann Womack have not accomplished.
