Reah Valente is an independent Pop/Rock/Alternative/Indie artist, who is known for her classic but edgy look and emotionally harrowing songs. Originally from Maringá, Paraná, Brazil but currently based in New York, New York State, she writes and performs her own songs, and plays the guitar, drums, and bass.

[edit] Biography
Reah was born and grew up on a farm in Maringá, Parana, Brazil. Her father is a lawyer and entrepreneur and her mother, a model. She is of Portuguese ancestry on her father's side and German, Spanish, and Belgian on her mother's. Her parents divorced when she was five years old. Reah's aunt, who lived in Ōsaka, Japan was an influential figure in her life. She also has a brother and sister.

Valente's father was also a DJ in his spare time. So at the age of 3, she discovered his music collection and began playing Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Simon and Garfunkel - her earliest influences. She had her first acoustic guitar lesson when she was 9 years old; composed her first song at the age of 10; and was also proficient in electric guitar, bass, and drums by the time she was 15 years old.
At the age of 16, Valente left home for the first time to partake in a foreign student exchange program in Ohio. It was there that she learned English and broadened her musical education to include the study of Big Band, jazz, gospel, and rock.
Upon returning to Brazil, Valente made the decision against her father’s wishes and without his consent to move to Ōsaka, Japan. Although she continued to write, Valente spent the next two years working as a model in her aunt's modeling agency, later assuming a management role. Life got crazy. Traveling all over the world, working long hours, and attending late night parties that were always followed by early morning hangovers. Everything in her life was done in excess. She was lost.

Then in June of 2002, she figured it all out and couldn’t deny her destiny any longer. Music was her life and she was determined to pursue it. So, she shaved her head, grabbed her guitar, and started playing on the streets of Tokyo.
Fluent in Japanese, Valente dove into the Japanese music scene. Playing for cover bands, composing songs and writing lyrics. After several months, she met a famous producer in Tokyo named Seigen Ono who encouraged her to sing her own songs. But the concept of being a singer was completely foreign to Reah as she had always shied away from the limelight. However, it was at this moment that Valente finally realized that she had always wanted to create music but she needed to take it to a new level and on her own terms.
On April 15, 2005, Reah Valente was signed by indie record label, Digital Link, and released her first album “Certain Relativity”, which was produced in a small studio in a the remote city of Okayama, Japan. She began playing all over Japan and had her own radio show.
[edit] Move to New York
In September, 2005, Valente moved to New York to further her career. However, this time she had no family and no friends. Not know where to begin, she began working with as many musicians as possible - playing guitar, bass and drums. Frustrated with her career, she finally met American hip-hop producer Andy Thelusma, Red Spyda (50-cent, Eminem, Macy Gray).
Red Spyda introduced her to a slew of producers but it was faith, hard work and talent that caught the attention of legendary producers Paul Fox and Dave Cobb (XTC, 10,000 Maniacs, Sixpence None the Richer, Edwin McCain, Phish, The Sugarcubes, and Shooter Jennings) in Los Angeles, California. Reah moved to Los Angeles to begin writing, producing and recording her album with this dynamic duo. 30 days later, Reah finished recording 10 tracks.
Valente has just completed four music videos with award-winning music video director, David Brodsky (Fall Out Boy, Helmet (band), Hatebreed). Her work will be featured in a contest launched by Numa Nation, s a website dedicated to the talent who want to take their funky, polished, or funny music videos to the world stage.
