[edit] Main versions

Ready To Go has many versions, mixes and remixes, of which most famous are:

  • Ready To Go: Also known as Ready To Go [1996], Ready To Go (Original) or Ready To Go (Album version), it was not included in the 'Republica' album; no video was produced.
  • Ready To Go (Original mix): This version featured a video, targeting the UK and European audiences. A video for the American audience was made too. It sounds softer than the U.S. mix.
  • Ready To Go (U.S. mix): The US mix was included in the Republica album, too. This version became highly popular in the United States. It sounds faster and its beat is stronger, making it rockier and dancy. On the American issue of the Republica album, the US mix of the song was credited just as Ready To Go, and on the European issue of the album it is sometimes marked as Ready To Go (U.S. mix). Considered by Americans to be the original, this version of the song became more popular than the original mix. In Europe it was just the opposite.

[edit] Music videos

  • Ready To Go (UK/Europe/Other countries). In this video, lead singer Saffron is jumping on the roof of a building. The shots took place somewhere in East London. This video is very sunny and dancy. It is said that it shows the hidden beauty of East London. The video also features lead singer Saffron playing the video game Virtua Fighter.
  • Ready To Go (USA/America). This video is a lot different than the original, European one. Saffron is shown jumping on a green field near a road, then she is dancing and doing funny mimics in front of the camera. Some parts of the video are artificially colorized. This video is more rocky.

[edit] Chart positions

Ready To Go was one of the top hits of 1996, scoring number 4 in the United Kingdom.

[edit] Miscellanea

  • The chorus and opening bridge of the American version is played on the boarding platform of the Top Thrill Dragster rollercoaster at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. Appropriately, the train leaves the station on the lyric "Baby, I'm ready to go!"
  • Sometimes the round brackets in the additional namings of the song are replaced with square ones.
  • Extracts from 'Ready To Go' are used for the title music of Sky Sports News.
  • Extracts from 'Ready to Go' are used in Halford's recent Christmas TV adverts.
  • Extracts from 'Ready to Go' were used in some Dairy Queen commercials that aired in 2003.
  • In the original mix version there is a piano bridge, in the US mix there's a guitar bridge.
  • Up until the 2005-6 season, Sunderland A.F.C. used to come out of the tunnel and onto the pitch of the Stadium of Light to this track. The track proved a massive hit with Sunderland fans, to the extent that Republica were invited to perform the song live at the Stadium of Light for the last game of Sunderland's record-breaking, league-winning season in May 1999. For the occasion, lead singer Saffron wore a Sunderland top. It was replaced by U2's Elevation, a switch which was unpopular with many fans.
  • The Boston Red Sox usually play this song at Fenway Park before the game begins as the managers have the meeting at home plate each night.
  • This song is played during the Ed Schultz Show
  • The Washington Capitals play this song before the third period of their home games at Verizon Center
  • 'Ready To Go (U.S. Mix)' can be heard in Australia on the television advertisements for Holden's range of motor vehicles (2006).
  • Mitsubishi used the song to kick off their new "Wake Up and Drive" advertising campaign for the new-for-1999 Galant.
  • The song was featured in the movie Vegas Vacation.
  • The U.S. Mix is featured in the film GAEA Girls as Chigusa Nagayo's theme.
