From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project offering information and resources on how children learn to read, why so many have trouble, and how parents, teachers, and other adults can help. These resources include documentary television programs, the Reading Rockets website, and professional development tools for teachers and educators such as webcasts and podcasts.

Reading Rockets is an educational initiative of WETA, the public broadcasting station serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The project is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs.

In 2003, Reading Rockets spun off ColorĂn Colorado, a web-based service that provides information, activities, and advice for educators, and Spanish-speaking families of English language learners (ELLs).
