Razorcake
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Razorcake is the magazine arm of a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, CA (with its sister underground book publisher Gorsky Press as Razorcake/Gorsky Press, Inc.) which runs an online punk-culture website and prints a bi-monthly punk magazine. The bi-monthly publication features interviews, columns and reviews from the likes of Sean Carswell, Rev. Norb, Nardwuar, Todd Taylor and more. Since its 2001 inception, both mediums of this organization have grown to become a staple in the underground punk scene.
Razorcake began as a means for its staff and columnists to do something after their former magazine, Flipside (fanzine), self-destructed due to bad management and legal troubles.
As of October 2006, its publishers are developing a community center in Los Angeles.

[edit] Notes
- Razorcake was one of the first magazines dedicated to underground music that achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit status, and remains one of the few with that designation.
- The magazine is distributed internationally.
- The name: Why Razorcake? Ever try to buy a domain name? Also, it's tasty and cutting at the same time.
- The coverage: We know there's no lack of musical coverage in the world. And, if you're looking for the next big thing or the top of the charts, Razorcake is not the place. But, if you're seeking great music that slips under the sloppy national radar or can't be neatly shoved into itty-bitty cubbyholes, Razorcake is perfect.
