Raymond Lindeman

Raymond Lindeman (1915-1942) was an ecologist whose work did not become known until after his death. He completed his PhD at the University of Minnesota. While a postdoctoral researcher at Yale with noted limnologist G. Evelyn Hutchinson, Lindeman submitted a chapter of his thesis for publication in the journal Ecology. His manuscript was initially rejected for its generalisations. After his death in June, 1942, his manuscript was published in Ecology and it has become a seminal work in ecology and limnology.
