Raymond Chrétien

Raymond Chrétien (born May 20, 1942) was Canada's ambassador to the United States from 1994 to 2000. He has held a number of other diplomatic postings:
- France 2000–2003
- Belgium 1991–1994
- Mexico 1985–1988
- Congo 1978–1981
From 1988 to 1991 he was associate under secretary of state for external affairs. In 1996 he was named special envoy to the UN for the Great Lakes and Central Africa.
In 2004 he joined Fasken Martineau and in December 2005 joined the Trudeau Foundation. Since April 2004 he is Chairman of the board of the Center for International Studies of the Université de Montréal (CÉRIUM).
Raymond Chrétien is the nephew of former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
