Raymond Bonin

Raymond C. Bonin (born November 20, 1942) is a Canadian politician.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Bonin is a Liberal member of the Canadian House of Commons representing the riding of Nickel Belt, and has done so since 1993. Prior to entering politics, he was a professor at Sudbury's Cambrian College. He was also chairman of the French Catholic school board from 1976 to 1985, and was a city councillor from 1988 to 1991.
On November 16, 2006, Bonin announced that he will retire from politics at the end of his current term, and will not run for reelection in the next federal election. [1] Several people, including former Sudbury city councillors Lynne Reynolds and Louise Portelance, Chelmsford lawyer Gerry Guimond, former bureaucrat and senior policy advisor to several Liberal cabinet ministers Sylvain Beaudry from Verner, and Bonin's current executive assistant Shawn Murphy, have announced their candidacies for the Liberal Party nomination in Nickel Belt.
