Raychem EZF

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Raychem EZF was a coaxial cable, “F”, connector produced from the late 1980’s to around 2000.

The Raychem EZF connectors were popular, or “EZ,” because one connector was needed for 60% through quad shielded cable; this was not common in the late 80’s/early 90’s.

The EZF connectors came in cartridges. The installer would push the connector onto the cable while the connector was still in the cartridge, which was easier than installing the connector with the fingers.

Although there were compression tools made, no tool was needed to compress the EZF onto the coaxial cable. An installer could compress the EZF with a port and a wrench.

The Raychem EZF came in red cartridges for RG59, blue for RG6, and black for RG11.

The Raychem EZF only required a 1/8” preparation, instead of the standard ¼” preparation.

The Raychem EZF connectors were first produced in Denmark and, later, in the United States.

The Raychem CATV was discontinued a few years after Tyco purchased Raychem, ending the EZF.
