Rayavaram is a small village in Pudukottai, Tamilnadu state, India.

Rayavaram is located at Pudukottai District. It is 72 km south of Trichy and 90 km North of Madurai. The nearest town, Pudukottai, is 18 km away. The closest airport is Tiruchy. It is well connected by road and has at least 75 buses covering Pudukottai, Karikudi, Arimalam, Thirumayam and Aranthangi. It consists of Pudur, Pudumanai, Palayaoor, Alangudi Chettipatti, Chellayeepuram, Chockalingapuram and Vasugipuram.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndiaTamilnadu Census, Rayavaram had a population of 3257. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Rayavaram has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is one of nagaratharvillage .The main families are MAM, PV, SMPL, MVALN, PAPPANATTAR HOUSE, VM HOUSE (vena.muna) and many more groups.

Rayavaram is the first village to permit low class people to allow entry to Temples. Vai-Govindan Chettiar is the First Tamil Publisher from this town. Its main economy is through agriculture. In the harvest season of May, Muthumariamman temple has a 10 day temple festival (Thiruvizha).The great Tamil lyricist Kannadasan ran a magazine for sometime from Rayavaram. Kulanthai Kavingar (Tamil Children song lyricist) Ala Valliappa hails from this village. Sri.PL.RM.Palanaiappa chettiar of this village was the MLA in the year 1952.Late Sri. SM.Palaniappa chettiar of Palaniappa Brothers had the credit of publishing Konar Notes (Tamil guides for Schools).Sri Pon. RamalingamDMK has been elected the Panchayat Union Chairman of Arimalam for the second term. Chess Champion Arti Ramasamy is also from Rayavaram.
