UN Gopher

Hi RaveenS,

The UN Gopher seems to have vanished without a forwarding address, along with the 1994-1995 UNESCO Press archives. It's been a long time since I used gopher, so I'm not too surprised. Then again, it would have been nice if they left some kind of announcement. I tried poking around other parts of the UN web site (e.g. http://un.org/search) but without luck. It seems like 1995 is pretty much the threshold of Internet memory.

Padahuthurai issue

Look at the lead in now, any comments welcome RaveenS 03:04, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I have did some corrections in there and now seems its okay to me, and try to find some neutral sources for the Roman Catholic bishop's comment. Happy Editing!!! --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ Walkie-talkie 11:43, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Glad Sri Lankans on Wikipedia can reach consensus on these issues. Longer we stay in Wikipedia more neutral we have to become, is'nt it

What I learned from Nagerkovil article is that what we can and not use Tamilnet, Tamilcanadian and Tamilnation as sources for. What we can use is when they are the primary sources of information but if they are secondary sources for such notes as UN reports etc then it is better to use the primary source if it is available. Look at what Shuniker had left from Tamilnation and what he took out. I learned a valuable lesson from the effort. He took out Federico Mayor quote because it is secondary but he left the letter to Australian Federation of Tamils by an Australian minister in because it is primary. Hence Tamilnet quoating the Bishop is not only primary but is also WP:V] verfiable becausehis Tamil speech was attached to the news report. It may not be a neutral WP:NPOV source because most sources are biased including BBC (remember SL government complaint against it) but a WP:RS source for this article. Neutrality comes into play when we look at the overall article itself. Is it written from a neutral point of view or just gives one point of view only ? Each segment can balance each other out not that ecah sentence has to be neutral. Infact in the Bishops comments I included that he was accused by the other side of being pro rebel just to balance out the whole artcle. Your comments please. I want to solve this without needing eloborate mechanisms. Thanks RaveenS 01:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree with you. Biased sources should be used only when primary sources are unavailable. But if any one uses the independent sources to start the intro/article and biased sources as the allegation, I'm do not agree with that. Most of the time even us (you know who I mean by us) always try to use independent sources than using the defense.lk.

Hmm yeah I saw it. Give him a Barnstar, I'll sign it too.

Mmmm... I partially agree with you. Hope you have noticed Iwaszaki's argument with Sebastian. He noted that, Bishop's holy mouth is not a reliable source for him. I'm not insulting the bishop but I like to agree with Iwazaki.
Except those sections, Nagerkovil school bombing article is an excellent example for neutrality .(for me). --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ Walkie-talkie 07:09, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Anton Balasingham

Hi,

The above personality did a lot for a lasting solution in the island though he suffered from diabetes, Motor Neurone Disease, a degenerative disease of the nervous system, and possibly medicine-induced bile duct cancer. Now putting his Bio "Terrorist Tag", I feel unreasonable and removing it, please take necessary action on this. I have discussed my points at Talk:Anton Balasingham.Rajsingam 09:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry you are not amenable to a wiki process. Anyway let the wiki process takes it cause then RaveenS 18:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

New project for Sri Lanka neutrality

As a mediator, I would like to have a WikiProject that brings both sides to the table. Unfortunately, that didn't seem possible with NCSLC. I'm therefore discussing creation of a new project - see User_talk:SebastianHelm/NCSLC_or_new_project. Please join the discussion there! — Sebastian 21:51, 21 January 2007 (UTC) Also, please take a look at the project page. — Sebastian 09:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Special Task Force

Hate to bother you about this AGAIN, but same problem with the Human Rights Section, I've created a new article, similar to articles such as "Notable Attacks by the LTTE" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Rights_Abuses_by_the_Special_Task_Force <- Sorry couldn't be bothered scripting, your help would be apreciated in maintaining the article and also mainting the link with the main STF article.

Hi

Hi RaveenS! Thank you for your welcome message! As soon I got it I came to your page. Then you were passing your Wiki Leave so I changed my mind and went back. I think I can help you on some topics. Thanks again! Yugayuga 05:58, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
