Ravencult are a Greek black metal band formed in 2001. Their style mixes elements of first wave and second wave black metal bands, and cite Celtic Frost and Bathory as their main influences.
They released their first demo, Despise the Blindfold, in 2002, which had a strong impact on the underground metal scene. They followed in 2003 this with their second demo, Cosmic Chaos, which met similar critical acclaim. They were starting to build up a reputation as a competent live act, having played alongside genre heavyweights Rotting Christ, Mayhem and Behemoth.
2004 saw the release of a 7" EP called Armageddon Rising, put out by Greek record label Aenaon Music. This EP was limited to 500 copies. Ravencult recorded their first full-length album, Temples of Torment, in Gjerstad, Norway, in 2005, scheduled to be released in 2007.
In January 2007, the band signed with Dark Essence Records.
