From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prof. Ratnajeevan Hoole is a professor of Electrical Engineering and the Vice Chancellor of University of Jaffna. Previously he was posted at the Peradeniya University. Currently he is on special leave due to threats to his life[1] by local para military groups [2] allied with the LTTE. President Rajapakse had appointed him as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna in March 2006. The LTTE opposed the appointment. Professor Hoole is the brother of internationally known Human Rights activist Rajan Hoole. He is a devout Protestant Christian. Some Tamil academics assert that Ratnajeevan had demonstrated an anti-Hindu zealotry in his publications[[3]].
