Ras Lila (dance)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ras Lila is a classical Manipuri dance. The theme of this romantic and graceful dance revolves around the love of Krishna and the milkmaids (gopis) and tells the divine love story of Lord Krishna and Radha, his lover. According to the Bhakti thought of Hinduism, physical love is just a metaphor for spiritualism. This form of dance was started by Maharaja Bhagya Chandra in 1779.
