From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Raphael House in San Francisco, California provides transitional housing and support programs for homeless parents and their children. Established in 1971, it was the first shelter in the city for homeless families.

The central purpose of Raphael House is to help homeless families achieve personal dignity, stronger family ties, stable housing, and financial independence.

[edit] History

For twenty years, between 1979 and 1999, Raphael House also operated Brother Juniper's Restaurant, an on-site breakfast café named for Saint Juniper. The expense of renovating its kitchens and the need for additional space for the children's afterschool tutorial center combined to force its closure.
