Chicken/Egg

Which do you think cae first the chicken or the egg? Why?

Pro-Chicken

The Chicken because an egg would not be able to survive by itself. Eggs need to be warmed by a parent, and when hatched they need something to take care of it, show it how to survive. - Mit  kebes  T  13:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

however, this does not state whether or not the chicken/egg came first. This is just the care-taking of an egg. Randfan 18:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

How would you abruptly get a chicken egg? Even by evolutionary standards, you don't just wait a long time and suddenly find a single chicken egg. How would it possibly mate without another of its kind? bibliomaniac15 03:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

A pre-chicken bird would still mate with its own kind- it just had a slight mutation that developed over time into our chicken. The genetic materials would be compadable with each other because obviously the evolution is an adaptation for the better so eventually all/most pre-chickens would have it. Randfan 17:40, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Chicken. But the egg could have poofed into existance... No, I'll stick with chicken.--SUIT42 03:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Pro-Egg

I'm pro-egg because the genetic material doesn'tchange from egg to its older form. Therefore the first chicken as we know it would have come from an egg (some pre-chicken bird layed the egg with a mutation in it that later turned into the our chicken). Randfan 00:32, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm pro-egg, but the real question is how do you define a chicken? The egg would have come first, but the point at which the egg contains what we call a chicken (instead of, I guess a lizard or dinosaur) would be hard to define.--Kyoko 14:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Kyoko 14:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC). I look up how we would define chicken.
for now I'll call it:

Gallus gallus, a domestic fowl bred for flesh or eggs; believed to have been developed from the red jungle fowl.Randfan 18:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm pro-egg. How could a chicken come into being without an egg? Eggs were also around long before chickens.Hemhem20X6 15:29, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
How can you be pro-anything if you don't know why which came first in your mind? For us "eggers" the egg cae from some long dead species of bird or lizard. For the "clux", you'll have to just ask them... Randfan 21:11, 23 October 2006 (UTC) P.S. the nicknames could be better....
Silly question. Of course, the egg came first. It's what's for breakfast. Chicken is for lunch. Jcam 22:14, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Eggs predate chickens. Dinosaurs laid eggs. There were no chickens during the age of dinosaurs (indeed, chickens are descended from egg-laying dinosaurs). Ergo, eggs came first. --Jayron32 05:32, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Indesicive or otherwise

The egg of a Red Junglefowl - I think the "chicken or the egg" thing refers to a chicken egg. Would you count that as the chicken (since it's not a chicken egg) or the egg (since it's still an egg)? --Friendly Porpoise 11:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
The egg came first, but only after the chicken. haz (talk) e 16:54, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Mole

Happy mole day everyone! ('specially "eggers" 'cause they're my group)

Sowhich came first the mole or the egg? Randfan 21:19, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

The egg, silly! Avogadro came much much later. Let's see how many people understand! Rather of an inside joke. --Kyoko 14:25, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Now I get it. LOL Randfan 16:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
<randomness begins> Thank goodness for Wikipedia. And Science Teachers!
I am listening to Andrea Bocelli's Un Nuovo Giorno for the 6.02th time! x I started listening to it at 10:23, will probably continue until forever. Though, on second thought, NaH! Never mind. COt it3Editor at Large(speak) 02:48, 25 October 2006 (UTC) The preceeding cryptic comment was added by an extremely scavenged user.
This is an explanation of the whole mole day thing, for those of you who don't get it:
I'm not talking about mole (animal), mole (sauce), or mole (skin marking). I was thinking about mole (unit), which is used in chemistry.
Have you ever looked at the Periodic table of elements? You'll see that for every element in the detailed version of it, they list its atomic mass. For example, hydrogen (H) has an atomic mass of 1.00794 (let's round that to 1), oxygen has an atomic mass of 15.9994 (let's round that to 16). That means that for water, which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, you have 1 + 1 + 16 = 18 as its molecular mass.
There's this number called Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.022 x 1023. The 1023 part means that it's 10 multiplied by 10, 23 times, a huge number. This is equivalent to 602200000000000000000. Anyway, somehow scientists figured out that if you get 6.022 x 1023 atoms of an element together, the whole bunch will have a collective mass of whatever their atomic mass is, expressed in grams. This would be one mole of the element. So one mole of hydrogen would have a mass of approximately 1 gram, one mole of oxygen would have a mass of about 16 grams, and so on. This works with chemical compounds too, so one mole of pure water or H2O would have a mass of roughly 18 grams.
Mole Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated by chemists in North America, on October 23, between 6:02 AM and 6:02 PM, making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.02×1023.
And so you see what Mole Day is all about. --Kyoko 18:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

FA medal

Hi Randfan, thanks for the medal but you should know I haven't created any FA's. I contributed to a few but never created any (A few FL's though!). I therefore cannot accept your nice gesture. — Moondyne 15:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter: Issue VI - November 2006

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter
Issue VI - November 2006
Project news
  • Due to the diligance of many editors we now have more than 5000 articles tagged as part of the project.
  • The /Assessment department has been making progress with discussions on the top priority level of novels. These are those articles that should be present in any version of this encyclopedia.
  • The "Members" list has been modified with a short archive or "inactive" list).
Member News
  • The project has currently 170 members, 28 joined & 0 leavers since the last newsletter at the start of October 2006. Of these 7 have been moved to a short "Inactive" list due to not contributing to Wikipedia for at least six months. They are free to reactivate themselves at any time, of course!
From the Members

Welcome to the sixth issue of the Novels WikiProject's newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

We would encourage all members to get more envolved and if you are wondering what with, please ask.

Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk), Initiating Editor

Auto list news
  • The NovelsInCompleteInfobox has been regenerated at the start of October and was shown to have grown rather than shrunk! So this month I have concentrated my efforts (with some help from Grey Shadow (talk contribs)) on the novels missing "genre" tags. These "genre-less" have now "all" been dealt with. Hopefully we can break the back of this load of work, but it will need help. It would be nice to get these worklists to a state where they can monitor the newly created articles rather than cleaning the retrospective material.
Collaboration of the Month
  • The Collaboration of the Month is going well. October's collaboration was slightly compromised by the removal of our notice early on; however there were still nearly 80 edits to improve the article. This months Collaboration has been selected by popular vote and is Doctor Zhivago (novel)
Current debates
  • We have a project structure that allows for the formation of special interest task forces (al la "WP:MILHIST".) This is useful for identifying groups of Novels editors who have a common interest. (i.e. Science fiction novels, Crime Novels, Children's novels, Classic literature, Russian novels etc.) Would there be interest out there in setting one or more of these up. Comments please to the General Forum.
Newsletter challenge

Last months Liponym challenge was met by Springeragh (talk contribs), but the article is still a "very" small stub.

  • The first person to start the article is mentioned in the next newsletter. This months' article is Lawrence Durrell's novel Clea.

To stop receiving this newsletter, or to receive it in a different format, please list yourself in the appropriate section here.

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

First Edit Day

Yep, the sixth was my first edit day. One-year anniversary on Wikipedia! Bearly541 accidentally sent me a first edit day banner instead of a birthday one, that's why it comes before some birthday wishes. I told Kyoko the story of my first edit:

I was at my grandparents' on the week-end celebrating my birthday (it was on Friday and I was there on Sunday), and went on the computer while they were fixing up the cake. I looked up something on this Wikipedia site I'd been hearing about, noticed (somehow) that there were pages for some of the Mayors of Ottawa missing, and started on J.P. Featherston's page. So my first edit was a new article, when I was supposed to be celebrating my birthday!

I'm wierd... — Editor at Large(speak) 20:56, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer! The cake is lovely to look at, but I'd love some pumpkin pie... I ran out this morning (had the last piece for breakfast). — Editor at Large(speak) 23:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Dragonlance

Hello. I must have missed your joining. Good to see you involved. Have you done any work with it? I can't seem to remember. Also, I noticed you created a template for becoming a member of the WikiProject Dragonlance. We already had one, now then, there's no reason to delete it, I think (I'll ask around), but in the future say something on the talk page. If you did, forgive me; I was gone for a while and lost my bearings somewhat. See ya! DoomsDay349 19:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh no, I don't want to get rid of your template, it's fine. As for minotaur wars, you're in luck; after I finish Amber & Iron, I'm starting those so we can work on it together. DoomsDay349 20:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
No, don't bother waiting up. I should finish A&I this weekend and have Minotaur Wars done before Thanksgiving, so if you finish first it's no problem; I'll be right along. DoomsDay349 20:26, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, sounds good. Do you have the whole trilogy or will you need to get them? I just purchased Night, Tides, and Empire of Blood so I'm set. DoomsDay349 20:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Hehe, I've got this weird need to own all my books, so I buy as many as possible...bibliomania, perhaps? DoomsDay349 20:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
If there is a large bookstore near you, B&N or Borders, perhaps, you can order them. I have to do that for a lot of Dragonlance books. DoomsDay349 20:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Agreed to E@L's case. As for your postal system, that's disturbing...do you live in America? You should write a letter (oh the irony!) to the U.S. Government or at least your state government to set up a postal system...it's one of their Constitutional powers, and thus one of their duties. DoomsDay349 20:51, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Freelance writer

I apologize for editing your user page, but your Talk Page was taking forever to load because of a very large flash animation. I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia; how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you ever forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” I am particuarly interested in talking to you to discuss the Wikipedia Kindness project which you are apparently a part of. If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianwrites@gmail.com

I added this to your talk page. Sorry if you angry. Do you mind if i archive your flash animation (the large one) for you? 76.188.7.83 02:52, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I appreciate the support, but my page is going to take ages to load now, Randfan... :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 22:05, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

No, it's okay. I'm doing it myself soon. It loads fine for me too, but I'm thinking of others with slower computers (btw, your talk page took AGES to load when I was elsewhere for the weekend!). I know you love me, all that I need ;-) — Editor at Large(speak) 22:10, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Now that was absolutely priceless! That's going into my favourites folder right away!! thanks a bunch :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 01:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC) P.S. Kyoko said it was messed up on her monitor, and it was rather squishy on mine. I liked them bigger too, but...

Thanks for the Barnstar!

Thanks, Ranfan for the barnstar. It tickles me though that you put vandal kitty on E@L's talk page. I hope a bot doesn't come and revert the edits! :-D Lol. Bearly451 talk 20:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your support...
Thank you ever so much, Randfan, for your kind words and understanding in my time of need. I deeply appreciate your support, and I hope to be there for you, should you ever need help. — Kyoko

Hello Randfan, I haven't forgotten you. I'm trying to answer each message in order, with a template plus a personalised message. Thank you for your well wishes, for the nice teddy bear, for the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar, for the smiley, and everything else. I appreciate it very much. As I've told other people, my energy level is still rather low, but at least my mood is better. Because of my still low energy level, I'm not sure how active I'll be on Wikipedia for the time being, so please understand if I don't respond immediately to your message, OK? Thanks again. --Kyoko 22:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Re:language wiki

There is http://conlang.wiki.com, but its criteria for inclusion is too confusing for me. I created two conlangs: One that is only written, and uses symbols from the Wingdings font, and one that is a twisted version of English, with words spelled as they sound, the omission of "to be" verbs and articles, etc. They're anything but professional, but I like making them up anyways. (Maybe you could create a new wiki for constructed languages!) --Gray Porpoisecetaceans have large brains 00:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi Randfan. Sorry about having to clear up the redirect in your barnstar. There are three cross-namespace redirects left (E@, E@C, and E@ Coffee), and they should really be deleted at WP:RFD. I will propose them there, and you may agree or not agree, but if you do agree that they will deleted under the redirect guidelines - it will save a lot of time if you just add a {{db-author}} speedy-deletion tag to them. Thanks for considering this option. Please point me to any previous discussion of these redirects if there is any. Any replies may be posted here. -- zzuuzz (talk) 01:38, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi again Randfan. Thanks for tagging those - someone else has tagged the other for deletion at WP:RFD. I am just replying because of your response which said that E@ Coffee is easy to type. I would just like to point out several easier-to-type shortcuts, which do not violate the guidelines for redirects. They are: WP:Coffee, WP:EA/CL, WP:COFFEE and WP:ESP/CL. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:49, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

don't worry about it

Hi Randfan, don't worry about leaving images and such on my talk page, it's not necessary and it will only slow things down for people who aren't on broadband access. Thanks anyway. --Kyoko 03:51, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

LuckyBuck

While I think it is highly irregular that the pages that were blanked happened to belong to users whom you have chatted with, I'll take you at your word that you weren't responsible, and yes, you are still my friend. Just please try to make sure this doesn't happen again, OK? Thanks. --Kyoko 02:40, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

No hard feelings :-) I will promptly delete the userbox, although I see it as funny because it isn't true. And don't worry, you're getting a fancy template soon! (Kindness thank-yous: Major backlog requiring the help of one or more experienced editors...)Editor at Large(speak) 23:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, please try to prevent that talk page blanking from happening again. Don't do anything that will get you in trouble, though. Also, I'm not sure how else to say it, but I'm surprised that your community has so few computers, but when you consider where I live, that probably explains my surprise. --Kyoko 00:19, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I wasn't thinking that you would do anything violent, if you were wondering. Totally unrelated, but I hope that my page isn't so popular because of people who are laughing at me, thinking "how pathetic, what a loser". --Kyoko 00:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, if you would like this under another heading, I'll let you choose your own title and where to split the messages. As I say on my current userpage, I can be way too bleak for my own good. I had this mental image of you beating up the vandal, and then I thought, no, that's not going to happen. Maybe it's due to that dark tendency that I worry about people making fun of me. That and the self-esteem problems. --Kyoko 00:44, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
In Randfan's defense, it seems to me that what happened was he picked a random target who happened to be one of us, and then when we started reverting him and he struck back. Suspicious, I must say, but I believe Rand 100 percent. DoomsDay349 01:03, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Archive?

I suggest you archive your talk page soon. It's getting very long. —The Great Llama talk 23:36, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, definitely shorten the time to archive. Mine's 5, but anything from 3 to 8 would probably be good. And yes, you can simply change the "15" to "3" in the two instances it appears in the template. —The Great Llama talk 23:41, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I've never seen it in my life until now (although, since I'm undead, you probably wouldn't count this as part of my "life". But I'll say this anyway: Hooray for interrobangs! —The Great Llama talk 23:48, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

several answers

Hi, I'm putting this under a new header. To answer your questions, I think I first met you when I was watching the list of recent changes and I saw your name. I've struggled with low self-esteem and depression ever since I was a teenager, so that would be most of my life. And if you were wondering if I had some special connection or knowledge about what happened to E@L, I was once in an abusive relationship with a man who knew very well how to take advantage of both my low self-esteem and my desire to avoid conflict, and so I'm especially interested in matters related to violence against women. That's why I felt particularly concerned about E@L. --Kyoko 01:10, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, thanks for the encouragement and also for the barnstar. If you don't mind, I'm going to try to bring up my mainspace edit count up for the day, so don't expect an immediate response, OK? Thanks again. --Kyoko 01:25, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I won't give you any response for now so you won't be troubled by answering it. but if I did it would say "Your welome!", or somethin' of the sorts. Randfan 01:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

E@L barnstar image thingy

I painstakingly created this image (after trying many, many ways to get a better-looking "L" in the image, I simply decided to use the brush for it). I just want to know what you think of it. —The Great Llama moo? 23:33, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, I tried to make it deserty here, but the main thing you can see is sky. As for downloading (though it's technically uploading) click "Upload file" in the toolbox on the left side of the screen. —The Great Llama moo? 00:52, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Are you using Windows? Because that's the only type of computer where I know how to resize images. —The Great Llama moo? 16:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, then: Right click on the image that you want to resize, and click "Save picture as...". Save as whatever in whatever. Next, either go to the place where that image is saved, and right click on it. Click "Edit". Now, there are a few ways to resize it (and possibly even more that I don't know about): Either click the "Image" bar then "Stretch/Skew", or click one of the square dot thingies on the edges and move it. Feel free to ask me any questions you have. —The Great Llamamoo?gloo? 20:43, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I honestly don't remember how I did that...:| Had something to do with copying and pasting stuff, but that's all I remember. I really just kept experimenting with it until what I wanted to happen happened. —The Great Llamamoo?gloo? 20:51, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

T-day

Thanks for the T-day wishes! Unfortunately since I live in Germany I have to work today and tomorrow :-( ... But we're having a post-Thanksgiving feast on Saturday. —Angr 16:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, since Germans don't celebrate Thanksgiving, there isn't a normal way to say "Happy Thanksgiving" in German. On American TV shows that have been dubbed into German I think they say "Frohes Thanksgiving". "Frohes" is pronounced "FRO-ess", and "Thanksgiving" is pronounced with a German accent ("Senksgiving"). —Angr 17:32, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Cheers mate

As a Brit I don't "do" Thanksgiving, but thanks very much for your good wishes anyway. Cheers, Tonywalton  | Talk 19:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again for the smile and the message of hope! --Kyoko 19:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Similarly, it's not a custom in Australia, but thanks anyway. The smile was nice. Cheers. Phaedrus86 21:43, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I also wanted to add that even though I've been in the U.S. for a few years now, I'm still not used to the big affair that Thanksgiving is here. I'm more active here today than usual, because I'm a bit bored, and my friend's Thanksgiving celebration is this evening. Totally unrelated, but the Wikipedia Signpost on your talk page is superimposed on one of my messages to you. Thanks again for the smile! --Kyoko 21:48, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Neither is it celebrated here in Singapore, but best wishes to you! :)Chacor 01:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Randfan, yes, I think I have the flu. It's more annoying than distressing. You don't need to fill my talk page with images, if that's what you were thinking of. Thanks for thinking of me! --Kyoko 17:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I just find it distracting and somewhat bothersome having to scroll through many images in order to find the actual messages... even at full-screen mode on my 17-inch monitor, there were images on E@L's page that overlapped one another. Hooray! Sing it with me! The lyrics are:

Here's a llama
There's a llama
And another little llama
Fuzzy llama(,) funny llama
Llama llama duck

Llama llama cheesecake llama
Tablet brick potato llama
Llama llama mushroon llama
Llama llama duck

I was once a treehouse
I lived in a cake
But I never saw the way
The orange slayed the rake

I was only three years dead
But it told a tale
And now listen, little child
To the safety rail

Did you ever see a llama
Kiss a llama(,) on the llama
Llama's llama(,) tastes of llama
Llama llama duck

Half a llama(,) twice the llama
Not a llama(,) farmer llama
Llama in a car(,) alarm a llama
Llama llama duck

Is that how it's told now?
Is it all so old?
Is it made of lemon juice?
doorknob(,) ankle(,) cold

Now my song is getting thin
I've run out of luck
Time for me to retire now
And become a duck

It's a weeeeeird song. —The Great Llamamoo? 01:04, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Autograph book comment

Hi Randfan, I looked at your autograph book again and I thought I would say a couple of things:

1. If this were Slashdot, the proper comment for a first poster would be something like "FP!!! KYOKO RULZ!" but I stopped reading Slashdot because of all the trolls and such. Too stressful.

2. If you look at the timestamps, aren't AndonicO and King Toadsworth tied for second, which would bump Tohru Honda13 down to fourth, if you follow the way that Olympic medals are assigned?

Just a thought. Or two. --Kyoko 20:15, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Question about RV

This is an offline version of decent version articles that were collected. It is to serve as a sideline-offline project to give WP to a greater number of users. This is done mostly to give knowledge to people who don't have Internet access and don't have too big of hardware material (think of all the African countries & the Third world countries). We opt for a paper version in the future and that is why we are collecting a good deal of good articles to have a decent material to offer. This doesn't mean WP will come down to these articles and everything else discarded. Goodday, Lincher 16:26, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, I'm not an admin, so I can't block. I do think they should be blocked though; some have. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 23:32, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Don't read it; it makes your brain rot. Read the Reference Desks instead. People ask all sorts of interesting questions there; it's one of the best places on Wikipedia. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 23:36, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Block messages

Hey, Randfan! I noticed you've been putting a very large amount of username-block messages on talk pages in cases where it's obvious. Personally I don't feel it's necessary, and they may be removed. Just a heads-up. MESSEDROCKER 21:14, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Blocked user's pages

Hello. I have noticed you're recreating userpages of indefinitely blocked users. Can you point out any use for them? Per WP:DENY, we're routinely deleting such pages after one month anyway (see CAT:TEMP - the template you're using adds the pages to that category). Миша13 21:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem. It's just that our policy against vandals is block & forget. They don't even deserve a userpage, that's why we call these "temporary" - you're not even going to raise your edit count this way. ;-) Moreover, if I am not mistaken, if a page is deleted, it prevents Google from indexing it and showing up in searches (and we don't want some of the usernames to show up, ever). Finally, the summaries you used suggested that you were blocking these accounts and created a false impression on a few people that you are an administrator. Thanks for understanding. quick thanks

Hi Randfan, just a quick thanks for my own cruise ship (which would be utterly useless for a roadtrip) before I drive again. Merry Christmas! --Kyoko 22:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank You! Happy Holidays!Leor Natanov 23:00, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

IRC?

Heh...I noticed your little comment on Llama mans talk page. Basically IRC means Internet relay chat, it is really cool. If you ever see Seadog_MS on one of those channels that is me :D. Cheers and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. (Its getting very close isn't it.) — Seadog_MS 23:21, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I am looking forward to it, if you want to know I am going on the IRC and I think Llama man is too. — Seadog_MS 23:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh I forgot you have to have a program that can open it, so like if you are using Mozilla FireFox then you should probably get Chatzilla. But it doesn't matter. — Seadog_MS 23:33, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
When I am online I am usually on this one #wikipedia...but it is so filled up that I can't get on right now :(. So I (and Llama man) is #wikipedia-esperanza there. — Seadog_MS 23:36, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:IRC tutorial says how to get it. –The Great Llamasign here 23:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Neat pic

I like the Buffalo/Bison pic you took, I hope the link Llama man gave you helped. — Seadog_MS 00:09, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks good luck we are waiting for you!!! — Seadog_MS 00:15, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Good luck with that! We both logged of though, but hey hopefully we will see you there soon. — Seadog_MS 00:21, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
