Randy Meeks is a fictional character from the 1996 horror movie Scream (film). He was the resident horror movie fan with all the answers and a friend of Sidney Prescott. He was portrayed by actor Jamie Kennedy.

Billy Loomis shot him at Stu's place after he was ousted as one of the killers, but before Billy died, Randy was revealed to still be alive.

Randy returned, attending college with Sidney. He is revealed to be a film student along with Casey 'Cici' Cooper and Mickey Altieri. He spoke to one of the killers on a cellphone briefly, taunting him repeatedly before he was murdered by them. His body was found in Gale's news van by Gale, Dewey and Gale's cameraman, Joel.

Randy makes an appearance in a videotape given to Sidney by his younger sister. In the videotape he explains the rules of a trilogy, furthering his place as the 'knowledge man' among Sidney's friends.

  • Give rules for surviving a horror/scary movie (in Scream), a sequel (in Scream 2), and a trilogy (in Scream 3).
  • In the script's ending, Randy was supposed to ask Sidney Prescott out to a movie, in which she responds, "As long as it's not a Meg Ryan movie."
  • His last name wasn't revealed until the credits of Scream 2.
  • Before Randy's last name was confirmed as Meeks, the internet circulated a rumor that his last name was Perkins.
  • Has a younger sister named Martha who delivers an important video to Sidney Prescott in Scream 3.
  • According to the commentary on Scream 3's DVD Collector's Edition, the idea of having Randy alive was tossed around. The thought was to have Randy secretly rescued by his family after his assault in Scream 2. The idea was deemed too unrealistic for the Scream Trilogy and eventually changed to a cameo role.
  • Randy is considered to be the favorite character of most fans, according to various website polls in 1998.
  • Fans were so outraged by Randy's death in Scream 2, that Wes Craven got angry emails sent to him at his official website.
  • If you look closely at Randy's corpse, you can see that his throat was slashed.
