Random Quest

Random Quest is a science fiction short story by John Wyndham.

It has been filmed three times. The first time was a TV film Random Quest, for the series Out of the Unknown. The second time was as Quest for Love starring Joan Collins, Tom Bell, and Denholm Elliott. Most recently, the BBC has adapted the story for television, retaining the original title. This version stars Samuel West and was first broadcast on BBC Four in November 2006.

It concerns a man who finds himself in a parallel universe, which is similar to but not quite the same as our own. He falls in love with a woman. He then finds himself back in our universe, and tries to find her equivalent person.
