Randall Stone was born in 1973 in Sunnyvale, California to Larry and Carmen Stone. He graduated from nearby Mountain View's St. Francis High School and graduated from Foothill College and California State University, Chico’s College of Business in Finance and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences in Economics.

Stone is a financial planner[1] and real estate developer[2] in Chico, California. He owns and manages a real estate and mortgage brokerage[3] in the greater Chico area as well. Often Stone will assist other developers in marketing the sale of the developed properties such as his most recent agreement with Sea Bright Cove at Dana Point. Stone is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, initiated at the Beta Pi chapter at Oregon State University.

Stone has lived in Chico for 12 years with his partner, Krista Gallwitz. Both Stone and Gallwitz are Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Counselors in the State of California and members of the Butte County League of Women Voters[4] Stone is also a member of Independent Living Services of Northern California's Fundraising Advisory Council and the longest serving member on the council.

[edit] Triathlon Career

Stone was a member of the 1992 and 1993 Triathlon Team USA representing the United States at each World Championships. Stone was a recipient of the team gold medal representing the United States at the 1993 Triathlon World Championships in Manchester, England. He was the 1992 National Champion at the United States Triathlon Series National Championship in Henderson, Nevada. In 1988 he was the youngest person (at that time) ever to qualify for the Triathlon National Championships - besting his older brother, Ted Stone. He competed in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon four times swimming from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco, the first time at age 14. He was a 1993 Tri Fed USA Triathlon All American and awarded a Resolution of Commendation from both the City of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors in 1992 and 1993 respectively. He has competed in over 125 triathlons in his career of 10 years including Wildflower Long and Short courses, th Ironkids National Championships, the United States Triathlon Series National Championships, the 1992 and 1993 World Triathlon Championships, Vineman International, and many other single and multisport races. In 1994, he qualified for the Boston Marathon at the Napa Valley Marathon in California finishing in a time of 3 hours 9 minutes 42 seconds.

Stone may now be best known for his involvement with the Special Olympics Butte County where he was named as an Athletics (Track & Field Coach, for the first ever Special Olympics National Games in Ames, Iowa in 2006[5]. He has been the head coach for Special Olympics Butte County’s bowling and Track & Field teams since 2002.

Stone has been active in politics[6],[7],[8],[9] at a local level since 2003 when he was appointed to the Butte County Democratic Party Central Committee [10] in 2003. He served as Vice Chair of the committee until 2006. He was a party delegate at the 2004 and 2006 Democratic Party conventions.

Stone's father, Larry Stone[11] is the current County Assessor[12] in Santa Clara County when he was elected to the position in 1995. Larry Stone was a member of the Sunnyvale City Council for 16 years (1975 to 1993) including two terms as mayor. In 1993, then President Bill Clinton recognized the City of Sunnyvale as one of three of the best run cities in the United States including the time the elder Stone was on the city council.

Stone enjoys Amateur Radio and holds a General Class license[13] issued by the Federal Communications Commission as K6RCS. He is a frequent speaker on amateur radio topics such as Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS), Echolink, and Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP) and teaches licensing classes in Butte County[14].
