Ramsay Street
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ramsay Street is a fictional street in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. It is located in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough, Melbourne. This location is the focal point of the show, and generally characters are included in the storyline by their living in one of the six houses located at the closed end of the cul-de-sac.
In the story, Ramsay Street is named after the Ramsay family, who were a prominent family in the area historically and when the show began. This family has since left the show, and a large number of other families and characters have come and gone from the street. Harold Bishop is the only character still living in Ramsay Street that is in any way related to the Ramsays, having been married to Madge Bishop (née Ramsay) for 13 years before she died of pancreatic cancer.
The filming location for exterior Ramsay Street scenes is Pin Oak Court in Vermont South. The indoor scenes are filmed in a studio, so there are occasionally discrepancies between the appearance of the inside and outside of the houses.

[edit] History of the Street
- No.22: First seen to be occupied by Clive Gibbons, Daphne Clarke and Zoe Davis, it was then bought by the Daniels Corporation in 1986. Gail Lewis moved into the house in 1987 and it became the second family home after her marriage to Paul Robinson in June 1987. Paul continued living there, throughout the end of his marriage to Gail and his next marriage to Christina Alessi. Paul moved away in 1992 but retained the house until 1993. Cheryl Stark bought the house and moved her children Brett and Danni in. Cheryl's partner Lou Carpenter soon joined them. In 1994 Cheryl gave birth to Louise. Just before Cheryl's death in 1996, Karl Kennedy purchased the house at an auction as an investment but later sold the property back to Lou after he had returned from Queensland. Following Cheryl's death and Brett and Danni's departure, Lou was joined by Cheryl's other son Darren and Marlene Kratz who helped him to look after Louise. From 1998 to late 2001, Lou and Louise were the inhabitants until Louise's real biological father, John Allen, wanted her to come and live with him. From 2002 to 2005, Lou lived alone until Paul Robinson returned to Erinsbourough and purchased the house back from Valda Sheergold, who Lou was forced to sell it to following his bankruptcy in 2004. After trying to live together with Paul, Lou eventually moved out. In late 2005, Paul's daughter Elle moved in with Paul. During 2006, Paul's son Robert Robinson also lived in Paul's house pretending to be his twin brother Cameron, until his cover was blown and he was sent to prison. The real Cameron had also lived there until his death. Lyn and Oscar Scully lived there after she was forced to sell her house to Loris Timmins, though after Lyn and Paul got married, Paul broke up with her, and she left Erinsborough. Currently, Paul is living with his daughter Elle.
- No.24: The Ramsay house first seen to be occupied by Max Ramsay and his wife Maria and their two children Shane and Danny. Maria soon left. Later Max's sister Madge moved in. When the other Ramsay's departed Madge was joined by her daughter Charlene and later her son Henry. Harold moved into No.24 after his marriage to Madge and after Madge's children had left they took in Eddie Buckingham and Gemma Ramsay. After Harold's disappearance, Madge lived with Lou Carpenter until she decided to reject Lou's proposal of marriage and went to live with Charlene and Scott. Lou remained in a No.24 for a time with his daughter Lauren, and some of the local youngsters until Marlene and Sam Kratz bought the house in 1994 from Madge. In late 1996, Harold and Madge returned and Marlene agreed that they could live there again as she was planning to move into No.22 to look after Louise after Cheryl's death. Madge and Harold took in Paul McClain and Tad Reeves during the next four years until Madge's death in 2001. Both Paul and Tad had left within the next year and in late 2003 Harold was joined by his son David, daughter-in-law Liljana and grandaughters Serena and Sky. David, Liljana and Serena were tragically killed in 2005. The following year, Harold opened his home to friend Lou, and Sky gave birth to a daughter Kerry and recently Lou's adoptive daughter Louise has come to stay with them.
- No.26: The traditional home of the Robinsons is No.26 Ramsay Street, a large grey brick house at the top of the cul-de-sac. Jim Robinson bought the house in the early 1960s and lived there until his death in 1993. Jim's mother-in-law, Helen Daniels, who had lived with the Robinsons since the death of Jim's wife Anne in 1975 received the house in his will and lived there until her death in 1997. Philip Martin and his family lived there until they sold the house in 1999 to the Scully Family. The Sale of No.26 in 1999 is regarded with suspicion by many fans as in Jim's will it was stipulated that upon Helen's death, his children Paul, Lucy, Scott and Glen would all equally inherit the house. Lyn, Joe, Jack and Oscar lived in the house in 2004 until Joe left for Bendigo and Jack left with Nina leaving Lyn and Oscar as the only Scullys left at No.26. In 2005, Lyn then invited the Timmins family to move in. When Lyn unwittingly took the fall for the Baby Belt she was forced to sell the house to cover legal costs. It was bought by Loris Timmins, the Timmins matriarch, and is now occupied by her daughter-in-law Janelle and her children: Dylan, Janae and Bree.
- No 28: This house was bought in 1985 by Des Clarke for him and his fiance Lorraine Kingham. When she called off the wedding, Des took in lodgers to pay off his debts, such as Daphne Lawrence and Mike Young. Des and Daphne married in 1986 and had their son, Jamie Kingsley Clarke a year later. Daphne died after a car accident in 1988, and Des continued living there until 1990. The house was sold to Doug and Pam Willis, who then sold it to Karl and Susan Kennedy in 1994. One by one their three children (Mal, Libby & Billy) moved out as they grew up, and ultimately Karl moved out when he discovered that he didn't love Susan anymore. They subsequently divorced in 2004, Susan then lived at No. 28 with Sindi Watts and Scott Timmins, for most of that year. In late 2005, Susan fell in love with Alex Kinski and married him, becoming stepmother to his children Katya, Rachel & Zeke. Alex died of cancer hours after the wedding. Karl has resumed his relationship with Susan and moved back in. Toadie is staying with the Kinskis because he has no other place to go after leaving No.30 and being shot by Guy Sykes.
- No.30: Jim Robinson bought No.30 and rented it to Paul and Terry as a wedding gift in 1985. Paul only lived there for a few weeks before Terry shot him. He moved back into No.26 immediately after leaving hospital. Matt lived at No.30 with his mother Hilary between 1989-1990. The house was owned by Dorothy Burke until about 1993, and was sold first to Janine Sumner. Stephen and Phoebe Gottlieb lodged their with their daughter Hope for several months as tenants. Following their departure Beth Brennan and Mark Gottlieb moved in. Since 1993, the house has been a sharehouse. Lou Carpenter purchased the house at an auction in 1999 and owned it until he was forced to sell it in 2004, after facing bankruptcy. The house is currently co-owned by Jarrod "Toadie" Rebecchi, Stuart Parker and Connor O'Neill, which is when they named the house House of Trouser. Previous occupants have included Joel Samuels, Lance Wilkinson, Sarah Beaumont, Joanna Evans, Lisa Elliott, Dee Bliss,Taj Coppin, Ned Parker, Boyd Hoyland, Janae Hoyland and Will Griggs. The current residents are Carmella Cammeniti, Rosetta Cammeniti, Pepper Steiger, Frazer Yeats and Ringo Brown.
- No. 32: The original owners of No.32 were the Mangel family, who lived there until 1991. Over the years the house was home to the Martins, until 1994, the Rebecchis until 1996, the Wilkinsons until 1998, Teresa "Tess" Bell until 2001, the Hancock family until 2002, and the Hoylands to date. In 2007, Max left the home to Stephanie Hoyland after their divorce and moved to Salon to work on an oil rig. The house is currently occupied by Steph, Boyd and Charlie.
