Ramose
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ramose refers to three different Egyptian people: Amenhotep III's Vizier (TT 55); Ramose of Amarna Tombs of the Nobles (Amarna); and Ramose father of Senenmut.
Ramose was Vizier under both Amenhotep III and Amenhotep IV (Akhnaton). His tomb (TT 55) is located near the tombs of several other nobles on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor (Necropolis of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna). Ramose's tomb has a main room containing 32 columns and a corridor with 8 columns. This tomb is notable for the high quality decorations in both the traditional and Amarna styles.
A second Ramose, owner of Southern Tomb 11 Tombs of the Nobles (Amarna), might or might not have been the same person as vizier Ramose owner of the Theban Tomb 55 to which the lines above refer. For a brief mention of his tomb see link below.
A third Ramose pertaining to the time of Pharaoh Hatshepsut, was the father of Senenmut (Senenmut's mother was called Hatnefret, see link below for tomb of Senenmut's parents).
