[edit] Trivia

  • He owns a shop called Ramone's House of Body Art. Since he gets no customers, Ramone gives himself a new paint job every morning to keep his skills sharp, except in the first morning he is seen in the film, in which he still has the same paint job (purple with gold flames) he had the previous night. Presumably, it slipped his mind, as he was angry at Lightning McQueen for scratching his paint as he zoomed past him while entering Radiator Springs. The four other paint jobs he is seen in during the film are sparkling green, yellow with purple flames, red with black flames, dark red with brighter red designs, and Lightning McQueen's original paint job (to support him at the Tie Breaker). In the flashback he is red with white bands; he gives McQueen a similar paint job during the "Route 66" montage. In Mater and the Ghostlight, he is blue with orange flames, implying that he still re-paints himself every day, despite the fact that the town gets customers again.
  • When Ramone paints the center stripes on the town's freshly-repaved road, he uses the same metal-flake yellow paint that he had painted himself that day. Likewise, the day he repainted McQueen, he used the same shade of metal-flake red as he had painted himself with that morning.
  • Another West Coast Latino connection since many low riders are custom painted for effect. Of course the fact that it's a body-art shop also represents a tattoo parlor.
  • His paint jobs were designed by Chip Foose[1].
  • He is married to Flo, another car in the town.
  • He is a 1959 Chevy Impala Lowrider, a car very popular among West Coast and Midwest Latinos. He comes very close to being Cheech Marin's favorite car, a 1958 Chevy Impala lowrider.
  • He is the first Pixar Latino character. Moreover the air intake knife-like vents on his hood are shaped to suggest a pencil-thin mustache, a classic look among upper class Hispanics in the 18th and 19th centuries.
  • According to a deleted scene in the DVD, the only customer Ramone has refused to paint was his future wife Flo, his reason being that he couldn't paint a classic, since she was perfect the way she was already. That was how Ramone and Flo fell in love.
  • When the residents of Radiator Springs are attempting to persuade Minnie and Van to purchase their products, Ramone shows them his rear undercarriage and claims to have applied Von Dutch-style pinstriping, referring to a famous car customizer and pinstriper.
  • He is the third Disney character to be voiced by Cheech Marin, The other two are Banzi the hyena from the Lion King and Tito the chihuahua from Oliver and Company.
  • His license plate reads "L0 N SL0", which is a reference to his catchphrase, "low and slow". The license plates of diecast models of Ramone read "L0W N SL0" as well as in video game and Disney website.

[edit] Movie Role

Ramone has a minor role in the movie, but tends to change his color every time he appears. He also changes Lightning's paint job.

[edit] Video Game Role

Ramone appears in ths Cars video game with a very minor role, he mainly only appears to give new paint jobs to McQueen and as a playable character in Arcade Mode and VS. Mode. In a deleted scene, Lightning tells Ramone about how he flew over a sign. Ramone then shows Lightning a special shine that he puts on his paintjob whenever he goes flying.
