It was written by Noel Sherman and Joe Sherman and published in 1962.

The song was popularized by Nat King Cole in 1962. The recording was released by Capitol Records as catalog number 4804. The record reached #2 on both the Billboard and Cash Box charts and sold over a million copies as a single. It was also featured in an album of the same name, which also was a million seller.
