[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

To celebrate their enduring love, Donna gives Eric a man ring (mirroring what occurred in the Season 3 finale, "The Promise Ring", hence the title). However, Eric thinks it's ugly and too big, something the guys mock him for later in the basement. After imagining his friends criticizing his ring in a fantasy involving them as the Super Friends, Eric admits to not liking it and takes it off. Hyde tells Jackie, who then tells Donna. Eric loses the ring and hurries to find it before Donna finds out, but she arrives at his house while he is looking and confronts Eric about why he lied to her about liking it in the first place.

Meanwhile, Kitty is trying to cope with menopause, which isn't making life easy for Red. Fez tries out for a job at the DMV. When it looks like all hope is lost during the interview, the interviewer notices Fez's ring, which he stole from Eric after showing a liking for it in the basement. Because of the ring, he gets the job.

Eric is convinced Donna has bad taste in fashion because of Bob. He gets the ring back from Fez and talks to her again. Donna points out how Eric's entire living room is a sign of bad taste, which Kitty overhears when she and Red enter. Red tells a lie to make her feel better, and they go upstairs. Eric sees this and realizes that his parents lie to each other and they have remained married "for 150 years." Despite this, Donna tells Eric that she wants him to tell her the truth all the time.

The episode ends with the gang in the Circle as the Super Friends.
