Rama Revealed (1993) is a science fiction novel by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee. It is the last of three sequels to Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama by these authors, and as the title suggests reveals the mysteries behind the enigmatic Rama spacecraft.
[edit] Plot summary
The book picks up the story immediately after the end of The Garden of Rama. The book follows the story of Nicole Wakefield and her escape from imprisonment left at the cliffhanger of the previous book.
As the human colony continues to degenerate with respect to living conditions and human rights, the members of Nicole's family escape to the region nicknamed "New York", where they come into contact with the third alien species living in the Rama spacecraft. After the family is nearly captured again by their human oppressors, they retreat further into the bowels of the spacecraft, to become allies with this third species. When the human colony declares war on the third alien species, the Rama ship automatically intervenes, causing all living beings in the craft to fall into unconsciousness until they arrive at their destination.
Upon arrival at the new node, the focus shifts to show a now elderly Nicole Wakefield learning some of the mysteries from the Ramans she has sought answers to for many years as a scientist, such as the purpose of the universe, and ends with her deciding to die (despite given the chance to prolong her life) due to congestive heart failure.
