Ramón D. Santiago (born August 31, 1979) is a Dominican Major League Baseball player who has played for the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners. He was born in Las Matas de Farfan, Dominican Republic. He has spent most of his limited Major League career at shortstop, but has also played a significant amount of time at second base, as well as third. Ramón played for the Tigers from 2002-2003 and 2006, and played for the Mariners from 2004-2005. Ramon came up as a rookie for the Tigers in 2002, but never fulfilled his potential at shortstop. He was a top prospect in the Tigers minor league system, as he and Omar Infante were expected to fulfill the shortstop/second base role. Santiago never showed enough promise offensively for the Tigers to hold onto him, so the Mariners ended up getting ahold of him in a deal for Carlos Guillen. During his tenure with the Mariners, he was a utility infielder, used mainly for his defensive skills. His struggles continued to be at offense, and he spent a lot of his time in the minor leagues for the Tacoma Rainiers. The Tigers reacquired Santiago as a free agent to help strengthen their defense up the middle prior to the '06 season. Santiago's glove seems to be his promise in the big leagues as he continues to dominate defensively.

Ramon Santiago may not be a superstar player but is a very valuable role player. Ramon santiago and Omar Infante were emerging stars back in the early 2000s. They are re-united again, but not as starters.
