Ralstonia metallidurans (CH34) is a Gram-negative, non-spore forming bacillus that is able to survive and flourish in millimolar concentrations of heavy metals, and plays a vital role in the formation of gold,[1] a metal highly toxic to most other microorganisms. This microbe was formerly known as Ralstonia eutropha and Alcaligenes eutrophus.
